I have enjoyed food tech the most. My favourite task in food tech was the meat balls and wedges because it got you really into it and really challenged you to use you brain and hands and then the end result was absolutely perfect … for our taste buds that is. I also loved the apple crumble because it is my favourite desert. I now know how to use the rubbing-in technique which is rubbing the butter and flour together and I also learnt how to use an oven safely.

I did cooking in the second half of my time at technology and my teacher was Miss. Skuse. She taught my group good ways to cook and make some really nice food and desserts. I really liked the cupcake week because it was really nice and we learned new techniques and how to be gentle with food and don’t make a mess. The techniques I learned were how to roll butter, crack an egg, mix ingredients and how to use an oven properly. I really enjoyed cooking because now I do it more often and I even cook at home. I enjoy baking the most.

COOKING!!!

I really liked cooking with Miss Skuse especially the cupcakes because they had so much flavour and texture and were really yummy. The desserts were really nice and taught me a great lesson on how to prepare servings for my family. The mixture for the cupcakes automatically rises cause of one of the ingredients - the self raising flour.

Tech fun

Cooking I did cooking with Miss. Skuse. We made parfaits, apple crumble, kebabs & salad, meatballs & wedges, cupcakes & jacket potatoes.

My favourite was the kebab we could pick whether we wanted sausage, chicken or steak. I chose chicken & steak. We had to cut it up and cover it in seasoning then cook it on the BBQ. We also made a salad to go with it. Everything was delicious.

My other favourite was the apple crumble we chopped what fruit we wanted & made some crumble using the rubbing technique and baked it in the oven with hot custard on the side. Mmmmm!!!!

I learned lots of things in food like safety tips, buttering technique, safety with ovens and frying pans plus lots of new recipes that I can make at home

The best part is you can eat what you make at the end!!!

One of the favourite things I did in cooking was making the cup cakes. However ours did go flat when we took it out of the oven but it still tasted good with the icing! Here is the recipe for the muffins

Icing

1. Into a large bowl put the flour.
2. In another smaller bowl beat egg, milk and oil.
3. Add two mixtures together. Mix till combined
4. Spoon mixture into greased tin. ( make even as possible )
5. Bake for 10-15min.

Jacobs ladder

This year has been the first year at tech and I didn’t know what to expect but after the first time in woodwork I thought this is going to be really fun. I finished making my brainteaser and after that I finished making my Jacobs ladder in two sessions. I was 1st to finish it.
A Jacobs ladder is 6 pieces of wood tied together with some ribbon in a way I cannot remember but when you turn one upside down they follow the first one. They’re really cool.

Studio and ICT

Hi! My name is William this is an electronic quiz that I made. Well this isn’t my quiz it’s my friend Kishan’s and his one a bit more sophisticated than my one. I knew most of the stuff in ICT but in studio I learnt a lot more things about electronics. I learnt about circuits and things in them and I learnt how to use a soldering iron and heaps of other cool stuff. When I’m using a soldering iron I’ve got to be careful of not burning myself and not to use the point of the pointy bit and to use the side of it. ICT was fun too because I’m really into computers and ICT related things. I have two older sisters who go to college now and they said tech was really fun which made me so excited about going and now I am finally here!

Cooking- Parfait

My favourite room in technology was cooking in the 1st cycle. I enjoyed making all the different foods and learning how to use certain equipment safely. The skills I learnt helped me with my cooking at home which I am happy with. In the first lesson for cooking we learnt how to make a dessert called Parfait. It is quick to put together and you don’t have to go out and buy much you can basically make it out of what you have at home. Here is the recipe to how we did it in class…

Ingredients:

Fruit- Summer- berries, melon, apricots, peaches…..
Winter- kiwifruit, banana, grapes, oranges ……

Jelly- Flavours of your choice!

Yoghurt and/ or ice cream

Layer the above in a tall glass

You can also add…..
Chocolate chips, chopped in half marshmallows, chopped nuts, sprinkles. Chocolate, caramel, or fruit sauce.

Finish with a wafer cut in half
ENJOY!!!!!

That was just one of the many things that we learnt to make in cooking. We learnt to make lots of other yummy things. Like baked snacks, Apple crumble, Cup cakes, Pasta with mince, wedges and meatballs, kebabs and salad and baked potatoes. It was my favourite room in technology.
